Love is in the air, and Cupid is firing his arrow and there are so many great ways to spend Valentine’s Day in Raleigh this year. From classy evening meals to days out to staycations, there’s no shortage of date night activities for a perfect Valentine’s Day in the Triangle.

Craig and I enjoyed a manicure and pedicure together at Sen Nail Spa in Wake Forest. it was the ultimate luxury and not something we thought of doing as a couple. Craig was hooked in! Raleigh Walking Tours will put on a special Valentine’s & Galentine’s Day Love Stories & Broken Hearts Walking Tour again this year. It will feature historic local love stories – the good and the tragic. I’m sure the lessons will help you keep love alive. It’s a Pay What You Want Tour (though $15-$20 is the recommended donation price) and takes place on Saturday 7th Feb (1:30pm – 2:45pm), Friday 13th Feb (5:00pm – 6:15pm), Saturday 14th Feb (11:00am, 1:30pm, or 4:00pm), and Sunday 15th Feb (2:00pm – 3:15pm). Goodnight’s Comedy Club

Any healthy relationship needs a good sense of humor. The ability to laugh at your circumstances, and each other’s annoying quirks and habits can help you overcome the inevitable bumps and hurdles of a relationship. Take the less serious road this Valentine’s Day with a comedy night in Raleigh. Goodnights Comedy Club is hosting a Valentine’s special night with local comedian Caleb Elliott on Feb 14th at 7.00pm and 9:00pm.

Enjoy a laugh on Valentine’s Day when Trophy Brewing Co. hosts a Don’t Tell Comedy Night at 7 p.m. Feb. 14. The show is presented by the team behind the Raleigh Comedy Festival. Raleigh Improv: George Wallace

Head over to Raleigh Improv in Cary for laughs with George Wallace. He’ll have shows from Fri Feb 13 – Sun Feb 15, with two shows on Valentine’s night: 6:30pm & 9pm. He shows his gratitude to the audience by signing autographs and taking photos after every show. Audience members never know what will happen at the George Wallace show. 7. Enjoy a staycation in Raleigh

It’s definitely a special occasion kind of place. Even if you don’t stay here, in the past I was treated one year by Craig for a massage and manicure at their award-winning spa. Stateview Hotel

You will feel like you’re miles away from Raleigh with a staycation at the StateView Hotel. It’s one of our favorite Raleigh hotels for its natural feel with its hidden location on Lake Raleigh on the NC State Centennial Campus. On Valentine’s Day, it has a romance package, which features a deluxe room, champagne, chocolates, breakfast, and a late check-out. You’re only an 8-minute drive from downtown, but if serenity is what you’re after, stay in at the hotel. Their restaurant is quite impressive. Use code ROM when booking.

The Mayton Inn

Enjoy a romantic night in downtown Cary with The Mayton’s Valentine’s Room Package from Feb. 13-14. 8. Go traditional with a romantic dinner 

One of the hottest date ideas for Valentine’s Day is always a traditional romantic dinner. The good news is almost any restaurant in Raleigh will have something special happening for Valentines. Check in with your favorite one to see what they have on and be sure to reserve ahead of time. Here are a few extra romantic ones we found:

• With its dim lighting and poolside tables, Mulino Italian Kitchen & Bar is one of the most romantic restaurants year-round. They are one of the hottest restaurants for Valentine’s Day, so be sure to book a reservation! Reserve here. Here are more Italian restaurants to love in Raleigh.
• Some will say there is no more romantic place to dine than Heron’s at the Umstead Hotel & Spa. If a proposal is on your mind, this will be the ultimate as you indulge in dinner created by Executive Chef Steven Devereaux Greene.
• A new favorite Raleigh restaurant, Figulina, offering some larger versions of classic pasta dishes, including Spaghetti and Meatballs and Cacio e Pepe following inspiration by the classic Disney movie, “Lady and The Tramp.” . • If your Valentine is a fan of pizza, head over to Trophy Brewing Co. on Morgan St. or Trophy Five Points on Feb. 14 for a heart-shaped pizza!

• Escape to Greece this Valentine’s Day with a romantic dinner at one of our favorites Taverna Agora. Their rooftop patio is very romantic and heated for the winter and they have a reasonably priced three course menu. See details here.

9. Satisfy your sweet teeth

Looking for a sweeter date night idea for Valentine’s in Raleigh. Skip the meal and head straight for a special dessert. Even better if you can combine it with a view or cozy intimate vibe. 

• Press Coffee & Cake will have a special Red Velvet Cheesecake crepe available Feb 8 – 14. We had the first sneak tasting of that this morning at brunch with friends and we all agreed it was delicious with the best raspberry pops of flavor inside!
• Just skip right to dessert for intimate conversation at Bittersweet – Raleigh’s favorite cocktail and dessert bar – is the perfect place for sweet-toothed lovers this Valentines Day. You know it. Just skip right
• The Green Light Speakeasy in downtown Raleigh has fantastic cocktails with sweet and savory pairings.
• Raleigh’s Boatman Spirits Co. is launching a craft cocktail and Videri chocolate pairing menu on Feb. 14 until the end of the month. Videri Chocolate Factory is an acclaimed bean-to-bar chocolate maker in downtown Raleigh renowned for its award-winning chocolate bars, bonbons, and confections

10. Get starry eyed together

I love this idea for a Valentine’s Date. The Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill will have a special Valentine Edition of their Carolina Skies program. They’ll explore the legends of love told by ancient cultures about constellations and other objects visible in the night sky. Reserve tickets here. The Morehead Planetarium is one of the oldest and largest planetariums in the U.S. and features exhibits, interactive displays, and shows on astronomy, space science, and related subjects. We enjoyed visiting on a recent Chapel Hill weekend getaway.

TIP: If you want to pair it with a romantic dinner while in Chapel Hill, consider Il Palio where you’ll find delicious Italian food using the best local and Italian ingredients. You could even make it a staycation at the Siena hotel where the restaurant is located. Or, we also absolutely love the Carolina Inn – romance plus!

Another option for stargazing, if you want to delay your Valentine’s date, is stargazing at the Willard with the Raleigh Astronomy Club from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 25. 11. Treat your pup to a puppy date

A uniquely wonderful way to spend your Valentine’s date is to be interacting with your gentle, loving pup whose love is unconditional! Enjoy a singles mixer at Raleigh Brewing where you and your four-legged best friend can sniff out a connection, with good beer and fellow single dog lovers.

12. Dream together on a hike (or bike ride)

We don’t care that it’s winter – it’s North Carolina, it’s still perfect for biking or hiking and we have some amazing trails in Raleigh. We encourage you to experience the value of trading the sound of honking horns and keyboard taps for the sound of birds and rustling of leaves. Once your outside noise quietens it’s easier for you to reconnect as partners. Talk about your dreams and plan together how you’ll make them happen.

An Escape Room is an activity our family loves to do. We love working together to use logic, and deductive reasoning to solve riddles, puzzles and mysteries and escape from a locked room. I’m always amazed at how clever my girls are. My pick is The Tower Escapes, which is located in the National Historic site, First Water Tower of Raleigh. 

They have a Sir Walter Speakeasy Escape room based upon the Sir Walter Raleigh Hotel and its speakeasy in the basement (that’s a true story!) Your mission in this one is to lure officials into abolishing prohibition!

Do Crank Arm Brewing’s Valentine Day’s Treasure Hunt

Use your treasure map to follow clues, solve puzzles, and crack codes on this unique Valentine’s Day themed treasure hunt. This is an experience you can have in a group – why not double date or just do it with your friends! At only around $15, it’s also a cheap Valentine’s Date idea, plus you can do it yourselves without other people, allowing for more bonding time. See more here.

Challenge each other at Axe Throwing

This might be a good idea for those who need to work out a few grievances in their relationship. No better way to get it out of your system than to throw an axe. Then you may feel more in the mood for a cocktail and a view after. And of course, this is a fun date night for all couples, no matter what stage of your relationship. The Crazy Axe has two locations in Raleigh, Epic Axe is in the Morgan Street Food Hall, and Grafitti Cary is in Downtown Cary.

Murder Mystery 2: Crime on Date Night!

A speed dating night turns deadly—and everyone’s a suspect. 14. Solve a crime over dinner

Spend Valentine’s Day solving a crime over a romantic Italian-themed four-course dinner at downtown Raleigh’s Red Bird. The Charlotte Murder Mystery Company will present an interactive murder mystery experience featuring live actors, a detective and a story filled with art, scandal and secrets.

The menu includes Charred Caesar Salad, Beef Carpaccio, Grilled Prawns and Blood Orange Semolina Cake. A vegan and gluten-free menu also is available. There is nothing Craig and I like more than seeing live music and shows. Check your favorite venue to see who is playing and when. Here are a few concerts happening around Valentines Day date.

16. Candlelight Concerts

What about listening to a string quartet play songs from some of your favorite modern artists in an enchanting location under the spellbinding light of candles – they are fake though for safety purposes!

This is a magical date night experience in Raleigh, not just for romantic relationships but for dates with your best friends or children. I took my eldest daughter to the Merrimon-Wynne House in Historic Oakwood to the Tribute to Taylor Swift in 2024.

The room was filled with couples on dates, groups of girlfriends on a night out, and parents with their kids. Kalyra and I both loved it!Candlelight concerts happen a few times a month with tributes to artists like Nirvana, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Fleetwood Mac and Taylor Swift!

20. Cyrano de Bergerac, Theatre in the Park

22. Enjoy North Carolina Museum of Art After Hours
