INCREDIBLE VACATION IDEAS
We love Raleigh’s central location to so many amazing destinations and easy getaways. From the mountains to the beaches, and fun urban experiences. We can’t wait to keep sharing what we discover. For now, here are a few favorites.

We took a fascinating guided tour of Raleigh’s oldest house recently. Mordecai House is the oldest house in its original location (1785). Now a registered historical landmark, the former 3-acre Mordecai Plantation was once the largest in Wake County and is walking distance from downtown Raleigh (near historic Oakwood).
And, on-site is the birthplace home of Andrew Johnson, 17th POTUS.
We did one of their free Friday tours which only happen twice per year, but they have tours every week from Tues – Sun for a small fee of $7 (50 minutes).
Our guide took us back in time as we toured the house, the beautiful grounds, the chapel, and the gardens. We learned all about Moses Mordecai and his family, why it is pronounced "Mor-duh-key" and not "Mor-duh-kai" and how the City of Raleigh came to own the property.
We feel it`s important to learn about Raleigh’s past so we can create a better future.
We just published a blog post review of this tour on ThisIsRaleigh.com sharing all our photos and information on how you can do the tour. See the Linktree link in our bio.

PROGRESS…I took this drone shot of downtown Raleigh almost 2 years ago. I believe the vacant parking lot on the left is where the new Omni Hotel will rise from.
One thing I hope, and have read this will be the case, is that the sight line from the Performing Arts Center to the Capitol Building along Fayetteville Street will not be impeded? I think those two buildings acting as bookends to Fayetteville St should not change!
Thoughts on the new hotel?
