February is here which means Valentine’s Day and North Hills is a district that knows how to do a date night. Whether you’re looking for the perfect way to celebrate the Day of Love with your significant other, best friends, or just to treat yourself, North Hills has a lot of Cupid arrows in its quiver.

Good Graces

It’s the district in Raleigh that you will find us hanging out in the most – often on our own personal date experiences, so I can vouch that Midtown Raleigh has all kinds of romantic vibes, and it just keeps getting better with the new restaurants and places to play.

In this guide we share how to spend Valentine’s Day in the North Hills district, from date ideas to places to pick up special gifts and unique gifts, so you can be making this Valentine’s Day one to remember.

NOTE: Valentine’s Day is a huge day for local businesses. Some of the experiences in this Valentine’s Day guide may be sold out by the time you read this. Cancelations often happen so don’t lose hope and reach out to ask for waitlists – or choose a different date idea.

Where to Find Lover’s Treats & Gifts

But first, nothing says “I love you” like a sweet treat or bouquet of flowers. If you want to pick up a special gift for your Valentines, North Hills has lots of places where you can pick up either unique or traditional Valentine’s Day gifts. Here’s where:

Edible Art Bakery

Heart shaped cupcakes + macarons

If you want to indulge in special Valentine’s treats, then the place to find the most delicious and possibly most romantic cakes and sweet treats, is Edible Art Bakery. They have a pre-order Valentine’s Day menu, featuring heart shaped cookies, macarons, “I Love You” cupcakes and layered, decadent heart shaped cakes. See their collection here.

Captain Cookie

Box of cookies.

If there’s a cookie lover in your circle of people, then a box of Captain Cookies will be high on your Valentine’s Day gift list. Choose the special “Valentine’s Day Dozen” box which features 13 (one extra because why not?) of their famous cookies (don’t forget the Red Velvet for Valentine’s Day) and they’ll package them in a beautiful red box, handwrite your personalized message and wrap it all up with a Valentine’s Day bow. Pre-order here.

Trellis Floral Boutique

Fresh flowers / Angel Heart plant

Surprise your loved one with a stunning bouquet of fresh flowers. Their Valentine’s collection is designed to impress and confess in three sizes from petite to grande. Plus, they have adorable mini orchids or your classic two-dozen red roses. This Valentine’s Day, Trellis is also partnering with CASWELL Kitchen, a small, woman-owned Raleigh business, to offer a collection of cute heart shaped baked goods, gift wrapped in signature Valentine’s Day packaging. Order here.

Green Rabbit

Take a different approach to traditional bouquets of flowers and give a plant gift instead. We love how easy Green Rabbit in the Makers Alley district makes choosing plants for loved ones. Their green pots of love are organized into the type of plant person you’re buying for i.e. the traveler, the non-green thumb (Hi. It’s Me!), and pet parents.

Kilwins

Heart shaped chocolates

Kilwins in the Midtown Common’s District is another good place to get chocolates for your Valentine. You can get a classic heart-shaped box of chocolates, or create your own filled with velvety handcrafted chocolate treats! Great for best friends, kids, parents, grandparents, lovers – seems like everyone really… just not dogs. They also have corn and brittle, pretzil mini-twists, and Valentine’s chocolates in a bag.

Unique Experiences for a Memorable Valentine’s

For those looking to do something different, try these hands-on and wellness experiences in North Hills.

Self Care Love

You can’t really love another person until you love yourself, right? That means the ultimate Valentine’s Day date has to be the self-care experienced together. And if you’re single (or not) and couldn’t care less about a Valentine’s Day date, then permission is granted to enjoy these date ideas with you, yourself and yours. Here are a couple we recommend in North Hills:

Woodhouse Spa

Pamper yourselves!

Whether you want a massage or facial, with or without a partner, Woodhouse Spa offers the ultimate luxury to ease your body’s tension and restore it to wellness. Woodhouse is a partner of ours and where we go every month for a self care ritual. Our last couple’s experience at the Woodhouse included relaxing conversation and body healing in their salt room and infrared sauna. I recently had their new Glo2 Advanced Facial, which was the best facial I’ve ever had.

Previously only available at med spas, the Glo2 Facial is a science-backed treatment that oxygenates the skin from within (no pulling or tugging). It combines radio frequency, Oxfoliation™, ultrasound, and a detoxifying massage, and is fully customizable based on your skin’s needs. I loved the anti-aging benefits, and my skin felt incredibly soft, lifted, and glowy after. One of those treatments where you leave feeling deeply relaxed and visibly refreshed.

Woodhouse Spa has a special promotion happening for Valentine’s Day. When guests purchase a $350 gift card in-spa, they will receive a Kendra Scott Emilie Cuff Bracelet as a Valentine’s gift. The 14k yellow gold over brass bracelet is an adjustable fit and features a Mini cuff with oval stone accents. In-spa only. Not available online. While supplies last. Not combinable with other offers or returnable. One bracelet per transaction. We have a $150 Woodhouse gift card Instagram giveaway for Valentine’s Day (ends soon).

Dose Yoga & Smoothie Bar

Two people doing a yoga pose.

I tried hot yoga for the first time at Dose Yoga on our North Hills staycation. I do yoga 2-3 times a week, so I loved taking this wonderful practice to a new sweaty level. Complete the self-love experience with some of their contrast therapy (hot and cold), a relaxing sit in their infrared sauna, or a breathwork class – my latest self-care obsession. Then when you’re done pick up a nourishing green smoothie from their smoothie bar on the way out. Dose Yoga is Its nourishment for the soul, body and mind.

Dining & Cozy Wine Nights

Love is best celebrated over a great meal and a glass of wine. North Hills offers an array of romantic dining experiences, here’s where to consider booking for a romantic meal for two:

RH Rooftop Restaurant

RH Rooftop

Perhaps one of the hottest restaurants in Raleigh is the sleek and sophisticated RH Rooftop Restaurant on top of the luxury RH furniture gallery. We have not eaten here yet, but Craig attended the gallery’s open party and was so impressed. We’ve been up a couple of times just to enjoy the view. You can come up here just for a drink (coffee or stronger).

RH Rooftop

With its Beverly Hills-meets-Amalfi Coast vibe, featuring a skylit garden, heritage olive trees, sparkling chandeliers, and a cascading cast-stone center fountain, the restaurant is the ultimate romantic dinner spot. They don’t even need a special Valentine’s Day menu as every day is focused on romance!

Foxcroft Wine Co.

Cool new wine shop + bar

Cozy up with a glass of wine and a delicious meal at Foxcroft Wine in the Lassiter District. You could spend an hour, or two enjoying wine flights or glasses paired with a cheese and charcuterie board or linger longer to enjoy a meal from their full-service kitchen.

We have enjoyed a wine dinner, patio lunch, and brunch at Foxcroft and found the food delicious and wines excellent, and the ambiance sophisticated, yet casual and welcoming. Since it’s also a retail wine shop, you can also pick up a bottle of quality wine for a nightcap at home.

Tamasha
