Best Antique and Thrift Stores in Raleigh for Second-Hand Treasures!

Tucked between strip malls, century-old neighborhoods, and warehouses turned into breweries, you will find hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. Raleigh’s antique shops and thrift stores are for those who have the patience to rummage, to adventurers’ spirit to delve deep, and those who value quirky and weird over trendy and contemporary. 

I’ve spent years wandering around Raleigh’s shopping streets on a slow Saturday morning, hunting for vintage finds and secondhand wonders. I love wandering through creaky aisles flanked by shelves stacked high with dusty books, or diving into the back of a small thrift store illuminated by mid-century lamps, where you have to shimmy through clothing rails of colorful Hawaiian shirts.

You never know what you might find in the antique and thrift stores of Raleigh, but one thing you can count on – prices are surprisingly fair, dealers are happy to talk to you, and the inventory constantly shifts. No two weeks’ shopping sprees are the same. If you’re looking to find some preloved gems in Raleigh, here’s where to start. From 80s apparel to retro kitchenware, grab your tote bags and your wallet, because here are the best places to dig.

Out the Box Vintage

If you’re looking for a cool vintage shirt or pair of old school sneakers, Out the Box on Hillsborough St has a great collection of high-quality vintage fashion and sporting memorabilia, and it has a regular changeover of stock, so every time you go in there, you will find something new. Also, if you’re looking to buy some NC State merch, this is the place to go. It has the biggest selection of NC sporting merch of all the vintage stores in Raleigh, so if you can’t find what you’re looking for here, you won’t find it at all. It also has action figures, comic books, and games. The staff is also very nice and helpful.

Angel’s Treasures

Another small shop in downtown! Angel’s Treasures opened in Spring 2025 and sells vintage luxury clothing, jewelry, and accessories (mostly women’s). If you want high-quality crystals, second-hand designer shoes and handbags, or a unique, luxurious cocktail dress, this is where to go. Perfect for finding something unique for a date night, formal dinner, or occasion where you don’t want to rock up in the same frock as someone else.

Antiques at Gresham Lake

Looking for a rocking chair, a typewriter, or a liquor cabinet that resembles your great-great-grandfather’s? Antiques at Gresham Lake is where you should start your search. It’s a large store filled with your classic vintage and antique finds, from ceramics and glassware to furniture and old toys. This antique store has a curated collection from several antique dealers all under one roof, and it is rammed from wall to wall with unique finds and collectibles.

Cause for Paws

Find treasures and contribute to a great cause! Cause for Paws is a non-profit organization that supports animals in need. It has two stores in Raleigh, one in North Raleigh and one in South Raleigh, each of which sells gently used items, including clothing, electronics (including small and large appliances), as well as furniture and homeware items. Both stores are pretty big, but I would say the North location is better for books, records, and apparel, and the South location for clothing and homeware.

Whether you’re looking for a cheap air fryer for your new apartment or you’re looking to decorate your college room, you will find all manner of treasures here. And you can also meet cute cats and kittens for adoption there, too.

Cheshire Cat Antique Gallery

As Alice did in Wonderland, you could easily get lost in the Cheshire Cat Antique Gallery. This subterranean antique store in the Village District has a maze-like quality to it, where every turn and every nook and cranny reveals something weird or wonderful. Each booth has a different antique dealer, so you will find all items are priced individually and can range from a total bargain to sickeningly overpriced, but if you love a good rummage, there’s no shortage of places to do that here. It’s packed pretty tightly with treasures, so the staff asks you to check your bag in so you don’t accidentally knock something over. I advise you to leave big backpacks at home.

Father & Son Antiques

Father and Son is our teens’ favorite place to shop for vintage fashion and antiques. The 10,000 square foot store in the Warehouse District is our number one choice for vintage clothing. We found the quality of the stock to be very good – we almost bought Kalyra a cool leather jacket, but the sizing was off. We did think it was a little pricier than most thrift stores. But you do pay for quality. You can also find vinyl and mid-century modern furniture here.

Hunt & Gather

Now, if you’re looking for period furniture to decorate that beautiful historic home in Oakwood you just bought, Hunt & Gather has probably the best antique furniture collection in Raleigh. Whether you’re looking for an oak cabinet, a plush ol’ time dining room chair set, or 100-year-old jewelry or artwork, Hunt & Gather has it.

Little Oak Collective

Little Oak Collective is a boutique children’s consignment shop specializing in high-quality second-hand clothing, toys, gear, and books for babies and kids. The women-owned store focuses on sustainability and thoughtfully curated pieces that feel more like a modern boutique than a traditional thrift shop. Families especially love the in-store playhouse and toy area, which keeps kids entertained while parents browse.

State of Thrift

New to Raleigh, and from the same owner as Little Oak Collective is my new favorite thrift store! This one is golden because it caters mostly to teens and tweens -something that is hard to find in Raleigh. Savannah and I had a wonderful shopping spree here and she walked out with a lot of great new clothes for her spring wardrobe. See more in our Reel

She’s created a space with a wide mix of styles… even options for boys and men. Think curated, on-trend pieces (plenty of known brands) that are good for the planet and your wallet. About every 30ish days, a new batch of items drops to 25% off.

But here’s what else is great. You can pick up clothes, shoes, and accessories for adults too. I picked up a great pair of near-brand-new Steve Madden summer sandals for only $30. And if the almost new Doc Martens for $50 were in my size I would have purchased them FOR SURE.

It’s located in Five Points, right near Little Oak Collective and the new Trophy Brewing. Pizza and beer after your thrift shopping adventure anyone?

One For All Thrift

One For All is a small black-owned business in downtown run by Aerial and Crystal, who sell everything from clothes to VHS, DVDs, and CDs to homeware items. Although the shop is small, it’s full of great quality secondhand items. If you feel like rummaging for treasures, you will be bound to find something here. 

Origami Styling

Origami Styling is a curated vintage shop in downtown Raleigh specializing in clothing and accessories from the 1960s through the 1990s for men, women, and children. The collection is carefully selected for quality and individuality, so you’ll find unique pieces that stand out from modern trends. Alongside clothing, the shop also carries vintage furniture and housewares, making it a fun place to browse for both fashion and home treasures. They’re usually opened for First Friday in Downtown Raleigh – bringing extra vibe to your Downtown shopping and are right near the Raleigh Times street party

Pass It On Thrift

Pass It On is an upscale thrift boutique offering new and gently used women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories at fabulous prices. You’ll often find designer labels in excellent condition, making it a great place to refresh your wardrobe without spending a fortune. Even better, ninety cents of every dollar spent supports the programs and services of InterAct, a local nonprofit helping survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. It’s fashion with a meaningful impact.

Pigfish Lane Antiques and Interiors

Like Hunt & Gather, Pigfish Lane Antiques and Interiors is more about furniture and home decor. It has everything from antique rugs to rocking horses to marble-top cabinets. You can also find lamps, retro ceramics, and tea sets, as well as artwork and collectibles. 

Reader’s Corner

This is where to go for pre-owned books. Reader’s Corner in the Hillsborough St District is a bibliophile’s dream. It has rows and rows of bookshelves, stocked with books of every genre – from independently published finds to classic literature and bestsellers. There is also a small collection of comic books, vinyl records, and DVDs and CDs. Here are more places to shop on Hillsborough St you may like!

Raleigh Vintage

Raleigh Vintage is an online vintage shopping boutique that has a brick-and-mortar location available by appointment only. This is because the studio is also used to create its one-of-a-kind REworked collection and is a photography studio, as well as managing the stock for the online site, so space is limited, but you can still visit for private shopping if you book ahead. Whether you’re visiting the studio or browsing online, Raleigh Vintage has a curated collection of second-hand clothing, bags, and jewellery by designer brands such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Gucci, Jean Paul Gautier, Vivienne Westwood, Yves Saint Laurent, and more.

The Raleigh Market

The Raleigh Market is a weekend flea market that sells second-hand items and vintage stuff. It began in the 70s and quickly grew to be one of Raleigh’s best places to hunt for everything secondhand. It has more than 500 vendors selling antiques and collectible items, such as comic books, games, and jewelry. Here is our guide to the NC State Fairgrounds, where the market is held.

Raleigh Furniture Gallery

Exactly what it says on the tin, Raleigh Furniture Gallery sells antique furniture, which tends to be more old-world, 19th-century furniture than quirky retro. If you’re looking to deck out your home like a Victorian-era country house, then Raleigh Furniture Gallery is right up your alley.

Schoolkids Records

Craig rates SchoolKids Records as his second-favorite record store in Raleigh (behind Hunky Dory). It’s an indie record store near NC State Centennial Campus and has a large collection of second-hand records for $2-$3 each. I also like how the records are alphabetized, so if you are looking for an album in particular, it’s very easy to find it.

The Pallbearer

The Pallbearer is a sustainable vintage fashion brand and storefront in downtown Raleigh known for its curated collection of high-end vintage clothing and accessories. Pieces typically span from the 1950s through the early 2000s, with a strong emphasis on bold, expressive style. You’ll often find music-themed apparel like vintage band tees, sterling silver jewelry, and statement pieces with serious rock-star energy.

The Burrow

The Burrow is a collective marketplace featuring pop-up vendors and small businesses selling everything from vintage clothing and jackets to books, art, antiques, jewelry, and NC State gear. Because multiple vendors contribute to the space, the selection is always changing, making each visit a bit of a treasure hunt. It’s especially known for vintage sports tees and unique finds at great prices.

The Newsagents Shop

The Newsagents is a newer addition to Raleigh’s creative scene and has quickly built a following for its nostalgic, analog vibe. The shop focuses on media you can actually hold in your hands—think vintage books, vinyl records, comics, VHS tapes, and other retro collectibles. It’s a refreshing throwback space that celebrates art and storytelling beyond digital algorithms.

TrunkShow

Another good place to pick up second-hand vinyl records, TrunkShow has not only records but locally made art, vintage clothing, and Mid-Century furniture. While other antique shops and thrift stores on this list offer kitschy, Victorian-looking furniture, TrunkShow has more retro funk items. I’m talking about art deco lamps and stickered suitcases. It’s a small space, but it has a lot of stock to rummage through.

Tip: After shopping, walk a few paces to Pine State Coffee for your caffeine fix. It’s one of our favorite coffee shops in Raleigh!

Thrift Wiz

For affordable second-hand vintage clothing, Thrift Wiz has rails of t-shirts, jackets, and accessories for an affordable price. Some rails are priced at $2.50, $5, or $10 per item, and they restock regularly, so every weekend you could be finding something new. The owner is also very nice and friendly.

Unlikely Professionals

A lot of vintage clothing stores in Raleigh are tailored towards women, but for all those gents out there who are looking to freshen up their wardrobe (or freshen down, in this case), Unlikely Professionals is where to go for men’s vintage clothing, accessories, shoes, and apothecary. It also has a full beer and wine bar and is located in our favorite Makers Alley in North Hills.

Uptown Cheapskate

Uptown Cheapskate is a well-known charity shop that sells second-hand designer clothing and accessories. It’s like a vintage fashion version of TJ Maxx, where all clothes are organized by style and size, making it really easy to rummage and find something that suits you. I like how it also has named-brand clothing, so the quality of clothes is almost like new. They also have a system where you can sell your own clothes if you are someone who likes to clear out your wardrobe before a shopping spree.
