Tous Les Jours Bakery in Holly Springs: Why Raleigh Locals Are Making the Sweet Drive South

Some places don’t just open quietly. They arrive with a buzz. Since opening in May this year, Tous Les Jours Bakery in Holly Springs has quickly become one of those spots people whisper about, then text their friends, then plan a whole morning around. And after finally visiting ourselves on a Saturday morning, we get it.

Morning to go pastries!

If you love bakeries that feel elevated but approachable, indulgent but not overwhelming, and thoughtfully designed down to the tiniest detail, this is one you’ll want on your radar, even if you’re coming from Raleigh.

First things first: timing matters

Arrive early!

If you’re planning a weekend visit, here’s your insider tip right out of the gate: aim for 8am.

That’s when we arrived on a Saturday morning, and it was perfect. Plenty of space, calm energy, and time to really take everything in before the crowds started rolling in. By around 9am, the vibe shifted — still lovely, just much busier — with families, couples, and groups of friends filling the space and creating a lively, buzzing atmosphere that honestly felt kind of fun in its own way.

There’s something special about watching a place come alive like that.

A first impression that instantly calms you

The very first thing we noticed walking into Tous Les Jours was how meticulously clean, organized, and serene it felt. The bakery sits on a corner spot in the retail area, which means it’s flooded with natural light. Combined with the soft, calming décor, neutral tones, and uncluttered layout, the space feels welcoming without being overwhelming — even when it’s busy.

Everything has its place. Nothing feels rushed or chaotic. It’s the kind of environment that invites you to slow down… even though you’re about to face the very real challenge of choosing what to eat.

Seating for lingering, not just grabbing and going

tables and chairs inside tous les jours filled with customers

One thing we really appreciated is that Tous Les Jours isn’t designed solely for quick in-and-out visits. There’s a thoughtful mix of seating options:

  • Traditional tables and chairs for coffee dates or family outings
  • Lounge-style chairs around smaller coffee tables for those who want to settle in a bit longer
  • Enough space to comfortably accommodate groups without feeling cramped

It’s the kind of place where you can imagine:

  • A relaxed weekend breakfast
  • Parents chatting while kids enjoy a low-sugar treat
  • A casual catch-up with a friend over coffee
  • Or even a solo visit with a book and a beautiful pastry

The pastry stations: where the real decision-making begins

Front and center, the pastry serving stations are where temptation really kicks in. Rows upon rows of beautifully displayed pastries line the main area, and this is where Tous Les Jours truly stands out. Unlike many bakeries that lean heavily sweet, this is a place that caters to all tastes.

Yes, you’ll find stunning sweet pastries — but what really surprised us was the range of savory options. You’ll find your French bakery favorites like croissants of all flavors and stuffed with things like strawberries and ham and choose. There are spinach and feta Danishes, guava Danishes, Frank rolls, croque monsieur, milk loaves, and chocolate dipped waffles.

Still want another breakfast choice? You must try their bagels. They are not your typical bagels, these come with an Asian twist of using rice flour. Hence giving it the term cloud bagels because they’re fluffy like hem.

And if croissants are your thing, head on over to the donuts off all types – kimchi croquette, sweet rice donuts, or those filled with mango, vanilla, or chocolate cream. More sweet pastries include buns, fruit tarts caramel apple pies, apple and blueberry jam mont blancs, and yuzu pie. Plus, so many cakes. (Keep reading)

Croissants, buns, turnovers, and baked goods filled with ingredients like ham, cheese, and other savory combinations make this a bakery where:

  • Sweet lovers feel spoiled for choice
  • Savory fans don’t feel left out
  • Families can satisfy wildly different cravings in one stop

And then there’s the smell. That warm, fresh-from-the-oven bakery aroma hits you almost immediately — rich, comforting, and downright dangerous. The kind of smell that makes restraint feel optional and indulgence feel inevitable.

Cakes that deserve their own moment

Just when you think you’ve seen everything, you notice the refrigerated cake displays. Inside the coolers are fresh cream cakes and specialty cake creations, each one beautifully finished and clearly made with care. These aren’t overly heavy or aggressively sweet cakes — they’re elegant, balanced, and designed to be enjoyed rather than endured.

Expect Asian flavors elevating the cakes such as green tea cloud cake, mocha cloud, strawberry lychee, and triple berry cloud. Plus, they have legendary cakes such as tiramisu, triple chocolate mousse cake, cheesecake, red velvet cakes, kids party cakes (Pinkfong. BAbyshark and Hello Kitty character cakes are popular!) and cakes by the slices! There are also cakes in the fridge in boxes – perfect for gifts – like a mocha roll cake, finger madeleines and single serve tiramisu. We took home a mango cloud cake, and it absolutely lived up to expectations.

Christmas Cakes at Tous Les Jours (Holiday Highlight)

One of the most festive reasons to visit Tous Les Jours right now is their beautiful selection of Christmas cakes, which feel both celebratory and refreshingly light. Staying true to their French Asian baking style, these cakes focus on soft sponge layers, lightly sweetened fresh cream, and fruit-forward flavors, rather than heavy frostings

Expect elegant holiday designs that feel special enough for a Christmas gathering but approachable enough to serve after a family dinner. They’re ideal if you want a dessert that feels indulgent without being overly rich — and a perfect option for hosts who want to skip baking while still bringing something memorable to the table.

For holiday treats you can pick up extravagant cakes like Happy Snowman, Cinnamoroll Chocolate Cake, XMAS strawberry lychee cake and a Hello Kitty holiday cake, and an XMAS Merry Rudolph.

These seasonal holiday cakes are available for a limited time, so they’re well worth planning a holiday bakery run for. And good news is, you can get these Christmas cakes up until Dec 24!! Come in on Christmas Eve and that means you can also pick up pastries for your Christmas morning!

A family taste test (with very strong opinions)

Mango Cloud Cake

I’ll be honest: being gluten-free, I wasn’t able to enjoy most of the baked goods (my waistline was probably grateful). But that didn’t stop the rest of the family from doing a very thorough taste test on my behalf. And they did not hold back.

Craig, Kalyra, Craig’s parents, and later Savannah all agreed — this bakery delivers on both quality and variety.

  • Craig’s dad was all in on the ham and cheese croissant, as was Kalyra. Flaky, savory, and satisfying.
  • He also loved the apple turnover, which disappeared quickly.
  • Lorraine (Craig’s mum) fell hard for the scones with cream in the middle and the fruit tart. So much so that she jokingly — but also very sincerely — asked Amy, one of the co-owners, to please open a Tous Les Jours bakery in our hometown in Australia. She promised there would be lines out the door.
  • Lorraine, Kalyra, and Savannah all loved the fresh cream mango cake we brought home. Light, fruity, and perfectly balanced.
  • I’ll admit: I snuck a small taste of just the cream and mango part… and it was heavenly.

One item worth calling out, especially for families, is the milk bun — their most popular item, particularly with kids. It’s lower in sugar, soft, comforting, and approachable, making it an easy win for parents who want a treat without the sugar overload.

A quiet standout: the macarons

While I couldn’t eat most items, I could enjoy the macarons — and wow. Hands down, they were the best macarons I’ve had so far in the Triangle. Delicate shells, smooth filling, balanced sweetness — the kind that reminds you why macarons are so beloved when done well.

Don’t sleep on the drinks

Bakery drinks can sometimes feel like an afterthought, but that’s not the case at Tous les Jours in Holly Springs. The espresso-based coffee drinks were surprisingly good, along with a solid selection of teas and milk-based options. Standouts for us:

  • Tiramisu iced latte — one of their most popular drinks, and Kalyra’s favorite
  • Iced ube latte — my personal pick

The ube latte was caffeine-free, refreshing, and full of Southeast Asian flavor, with a subtle sweetness that paired beautifully with ice. And let’s be honest — that bright purple color is just fun. It felt like a treat all on its own.

What makes Tous Les Jours different

So what’s the story behind the brand? Tous Les Jours is a French-Asian style bakery, and the name translates to “every day” in French — a nod to their commitment to baking fresh, daily. The concept blends:

  • French baking techniques
  • Asian flavor influences
  • A focus on freshness, balance, and thoughtful ingredients

The result is a bakery that feels refined but not fussy, indulgent but not excessive, and accessible to a wide range of tastes and ages.

Worth the drive from Raleigh? Absolutely.

We’re often asked what’s actually worth driving for, and Tous Les Jours in Holly Springs easily makes that list. Whether you’re:

  • Planning a relaxed weekend morning (great motivation to explore more of Holly Springs)
  • Looking for a bakery that offers both sweet and savory options
  • Wanting a family-friendly spot that still feels elevated
  • Or just curious about why everyone’s talking about this place

This is one to experience for yourself.

Go early if you want space. Go later if you want energy. Either way, go hungry — and expect to leave planning your next visit before you’ve even finished your coffee. Craig’s parents flew out this morning and mentioned (again) Tous Les Jours as a memory highlight!
