Life update. We recently had a new garage door installed at our home and we are thrilled with the outcome, and you can see the transformation below from the before and after photos. For months our old door had a buckled panel which made opening and closing it challenging, which I avoided, and parking our car permanently in our driveway became not ideal, especially with winter coming and all the snow and ice.

Our new door is the Amarr Hillcrest made from durable and low-maintenance steel. We love the increased insulation, the natural light the windows let in, and we gained several extra feet in ceiling height with our new High Lift door system with the LiftMaster door control mounted on the side wall (not mounted on the ceiling). A High Lift is great for those who want to install things such as a home gym, a golf simulator, or even car enthusiasts interested in adding a car lift.
The new door is incredibly quiet when opening and closing compared to our old door. Kyle told us stories of people with old noisy doors who would leave for work early in the morning and lift it manually so as to not wake up their household. Is that you?

And we operate the door straight from our phone via the myQ app which allows us to operate and monitor our door from anywhere. Plus, the myQ app allows us to get Amazon packages, groceries and more delivered securely inside our garage even when not home which protects packages from damage, bad weather and going missing (must be an Amazon Prime member).
Other safety features include the Inside Lock which is a spring loaded, sliding deadbolt lock operated only from the interior of the door. We also love that our external decorative hardware, the door handles and hinges, are actually magnetic so we can take them on and off depending upon the look we want.
