If you’re craving summer vibes that sizzle, North Hills is where it’s at. No need to complain it’s too hot, because not only does Midtown Raleigh have plenty of things to enjoy inside, plus outdoor spaces with cooling fans and mists, there’s frozen treats to turn down the heat!
Whether you’re planning a date night, shopping for that perfect sundress, or chasing good times with your crew, this walkable, open-air destination brings the heat (in the best way). From patio cocktails to free concerts and everything in between, here’s how to turn up the fun this summer in North Hills.
Sip & Savor Al Fresco

There’s something about dining outside that just feels like summer. Besides, the AC temperatures indoors can verge on the edge of fit for polar bears. Give me balmy air paired with the breeze from a whirring fan any day. North Hills has no shortage of patios perfect for golden hour hangs, boozy brunches, and catching up over seasonal bites.
- Toast to sunshine with an Aperol Spritz at Vivace and a seasonal Italian dish.
- The Frosé machine is officially up and running at Foxcroft Food & Wine. These delightful blends will rotate throughout the summer and best enjoyed on their patio. They have $5 wine tasting from 5pm-7pm on the first Wednesday of every month. Sample six wines while gaining insights into each respective region and producer.
- Grab a front-row seat to people-watching at Rosewater Kitchen & Bar, where their dreamy (and shady) garden patio and seasonal cocktails are a match made in summer heaven.
- Always a favorite of ours for its “I’m not in the USA anymore” vibes is bartcao’s festive patio. They also do some of the best margaritas in Raleigh AND have a taco to suit all taste buds. Plus, almost everything here is gluten free! Muchos gracias!
- Opened this year in time for a North Hills summer is Sixty Vines. We think their rooftop patio is the place to be for great views, urban coastal chic vibes, and great food at affordable prices for what you get. Plus, their commitment to sustainability wins my heart.

- Giorgio Pizza Bar also has a seasonal summer cocktail menu and stone-baked pizzas. Come here for an Aperol Spritz for summer toasting, sangrias (white or red), and the best Brussel sprouts in Raleigh!
- Keep it cool with craft brews and upscale pub fare on the breezy rooftop at Level7– they have a fun and vibrant rooftop mural by Raleigh artist @Seanorock — it’s a backdrop of bold botanicals, birds, and beauty – perfect for a cocktail photo!
- Craving something spicy? Head to CO for bold Southeast Asian fusion and cocktails that taste like vacation in a glass. Their green papaya salad is the PERFECT summer dish. The patio is small, but the inside inviting. The lemongrass ginger martini could be a great pairing.
- Opening earlier this year, is an alfresco dining treat for you and your four-pawed friends. The Barking Dog Bar is located by Midtown Park and will be opened breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a private room for pawties.
- For a casual patio vibe that will have you tacoing about it for days, head to the new Velvet Tacos in Park District. It’s buzzing on a warm sunny lunch day. Their tacos are innovative and pretty darn big, so you may only need two!
And, if you really insist that summer is too sweltering for you to sit outside, North Hills has an abundance of inside dining for you to enjoy!
Enjoy live music at the Midtown Beach Music Series

The Beach Music Series returns for its 17th season at Midtown Park and runs until July 23rd. Each Thursday evening throughout the summer, there will be live outdoor music, plus a chance to grab a cold drink and a bite to eat from food trucks. These are ticketed events, so be sure to book as far in advance as you can. The doors open from 5pm and the first band starts at 6pm, and it finishes at 9pm.
Entertain the Kids

Looking for fun ways to keep the little ones busy (and happy) this summer? North Hills has you covered with kid-approved activities, creative play, and exciting events that make it easy for the whole family to enjoy the season.
- North Hills Kids. There are three events in the summer, from 9:30–11:00 AM, and they are free, fun-filled, and designed just for kids. Located at Midtown Park, each event features local children’s attractions, activity classes, and kid-friendly performances that encourage movement, creativity, and social connection. Bring a blanket, some snacks, and get ready to play, dance, and explore! The dates are:
- June 16th
- July 21st
- August 18th
- Slime Time at Learning Express. Skip the mess at home and let the kids dive into the DIY slime bar at Learning Express—a guaranteed hit that entertains them while you shop or relax nearby.
- Get Crafty with Hello Yellow Art Studio. Located beside Kilwin’s Ice Cream in the Park District, this DIY arts and crafts bar invites makers of all ages to explore their creativity. Choose from a playful menu of hands-on projects like painting, slime, jewelry, and building kits. While the kids get creative, adults can enjoy a snack, juice box, or even a glass of wine. Cool Down with a Sweet Treat

Need a sweet treat and a break from the heat? Duck into Ben & Jerry’s, Tifa Chocolate & Gelato, or Kilwins for an ice cream or Captain Cookie and the Milkman for a cookie with your locally made ice cream. You can get frozen smoothies from Clean Juice, Happy & Hale, and Smoothie King.
Celebrate Summer Local at the Midtown Farmers’ Market

Summer fun kicks off bright and early at the Midtown Farmers’ Market, happening every Saturday from 8 AM–Noon in The Commons. It’s more than just a market—it’s a vibe. Support local and shop small from some of the region’s best farmers, bakers, and makers. There’s live music, family-friendly activities, and even Compost Now on-site so you can drop off your food scraps and help Raleigh get closer to zero waste goals. Whether you’re picking up fresh produce, listening to tunes, or getting sticky with watermelon juice—this is Saturday summer magic in North Hills. Be sure to check their social media for summer events.

Speaking of Compost Now, use code CAZCOMPOSTS for your first month free. We have been using their home composting service now for 5 years and it is awesome! We donate our extra compost to Raleigh City Farm as I can’t garden. I loving giving back to Mother Earth and a local nonprofit through my food wastage!
Glowify your Summer Body
Woodhouse Spa Body Treatment

Since I had my first body wrap treatment last week at Woodhouse Spa, I can’t recommend it enough as a summer self-care ritual. I chose the 80-minute Holistic Body Detox which consisted of a dry brush exfoliation, nourishing sea minerals and a rebalancing body mask, rich with trace elements and toning essential oils and a deeply skin-supportive cream sealed in with a detoxifying serum
I’ve never given my whole body this kind of care before. My skin felt soft for days, the glow was real, and this is officially my new summer ritual. I think the beach is calling. Woodhouse has four body treatments to choose from:
- Black Sand Rejuvenation
- Holistic Body Detox (what I did)
- Nourishing Wrap
- WH Signature Meditative Soak
One more thing — Alice was my therapist and she was a shining light. Every therapist and esthetician at Woodhouse is wonderful. If you want to feel completely looked after, ask for Alice.
Face Foundrie Facial
New to North Hills in May 2026, is Face Foundrie, the second location to open in the Triangle. The first being at Fenton (swame owner). As the name suggests, facials are what this wellness spot in North Hills is all about. Craig and I recently popped in for a 50-minute Sculpt facial, which included a Hungarian massage, facial cupping, and nourishing creams. It was very relaxing. The kind where you forget what day it is. I had a noticeable glow for two days after and Craig is keen to make it a regular thing for him!
