Cheers to Christmas: The Top Festive Bars & Pop-Ups in Raleigh for 2025

It’s the Holiday season, which means Raleigh is welcoming back its festive pop-up bars that promise to make your celebrations unforgettable. It’s the time of year where rooftop cocktail bars and beloved taverns decorate their halls with more than just bells and holly – expect giant inflatable santas, fake snow, twinkling lights, and photo ops in every corner.

While we personally haven’t been to all of the Christmas bars in Raleigh, actually very few of them, we love that our cocktail bars and pubs go all out during the Holidays.

Huge thanks to our Facebook community of Raleigh locals who always give us outstanding tips and suggestions for their favorite places! We’re happy to curate them into an updated guide for you.

So here we are, the complete list of Christmas bars in Raleigh and the Triangle for 2025! Let us know in the comments of any holiday pop up bars we may have missed to include in the list?

1. Sippin’ Santa at Wye Hill Kitchen & Brewing

Wye Hill in downtown Raleigh brings a tropical twist to the holidays with its Sippin’ Santa pop-up. The venue is transformed into a festive oasis featuring beach-themed Christmas décor, including surfboards and hibiscus garlands. We experienced it at the preview night this year and found a fun, festive atmosphere with plenty of places to snap a unique Christmas photo! When we visited, the new The Sleigh Belles singing trio greeted you upon arrival. Think vintage glamour with a harmony style.

The menu offers tropical holiday cocktails – I found them a little too on the sweet and syrupy side, but I did love the Coco HO HO HO – not just for its fun name, but for its Southeast Asia flavors with the pandan in it. (However, their old fashioned is a standout!) Special events like “Brunch with Santa” are scheduled, where donations support the Southern Smoke Foundation. See our reel below of the experience.

2. Miracle at The Haymaker

A beloved annual tradition, The Haymaker in downtown Raleigh transforms into a Christmas spectacle with the Miracle pop-up Christmas bar. They were one of the first bars in Raleigh to go all out for Christmas. This year they are switching things up with their Christmas decorations, going all dark and moody with the Nightmare before Christmas theme. I really like it!

Expect over-the-top holiday decorations, ugly sweaters, and a menu of festive cocktails like the Christmapolitan and Snowball Old Fashioned, served in playful, holiday-themed glassware. Miracle at Haymaker will have the same cocktails as Miracle at Killjoy. This time I chose the Rudolph’s Replacement (like an espresso martini) and the Cherry Cherry Chocosauraus which I enjoyed more. Be warned, these cocktails are strong! They’re not my favorite holiday cocktails but it’s a fun bar to experience once. I’d also visit on the free nights if you can (fewer people also).

  • Dates: November 17 – December 31, 2025
  • Important: There will be a $5 General Admission Fee this year on Friday, and Saturday. There’ll be a LIMITED amount of fast-pass to skip the line AT THE DOOR-ONLY for $20.
  • Location: 555 Fayetteville St., Raleigh, NC

3. Miracle at Killjoy

By the same institution that brings the Miracle to The Haymaker, Killjoy Cocktail Bar in downtown brings the renowned Miracle pop-up to life with extravagant holiday decorations and a menu of inventive, festive cocktails. There is a small entry fee of just $5 on Fridays and Saturdays, and free entry during the week.

Known for its vibrant atmosphere, Killjoy offers a unique holiday experience that blends its signature colorful style with the magic of the season. Each weekday will have a different theme or special. I’m liking the sound of the Ugly Sweater Party on Thursday nights. Attending an Ugly Sweater Party is on our Raleigh Christmas Bucket List.

We visited this week for a preview and loved the fun decorations – especially the white and the pink room and the Elfie selfie room behind the curtain. As the cocktails are like Haymaker, they are not my favorite – too sweet and syrupy and like the rocket fuel of my late teen years! But they’re fun enough with their cups to have at least one. If you get the Koala la-la-la you get to take the koala clip home with you! The hot chocolate cocktail is also pretty decent, and Craig liked the gingerbread old fashioned! Follow us on our Facebook and Instagram as we share our new Raleigh discoveries.

  • Dates: November 17 – December 31, 2025
  • Location: 16 N West St, Raleigh

4. Angus Barn: A Holiday Tradition in Raleigh

Let 2025 be the year we finally experience the Angus Barn during the holidays (actually first time period)! Angus Barn is a Raleigh institution worth mentioning for its legendary Christmas decorations. Each year, the steakhouse transforms into a festive wonderland with stunning lights, garlands, and elaborate holiday displays that make it a magical dining experience. It’s perfect for a family outing or a special holiday dinner.

It’s famous for over-the-top holiday decor, including thousands of twinkling lights, a warm, welcoming ambiance with fireplaces and holiday charm, and a delicious menu featuring their famous steaks and homemade desserts.

It’s booked out for the holiday season; however, their Wild Turkey Lounge is first come first served. So, you can see these amazing holiday decorations with a craft cocktail by your side. We visited the Wild Turkey Lounge this past week, getting there right on opening at 3pm so we could have a look at all the lights and decorations before the crowds came in for dinner. It was spectacular. Getting there at that time on a Monday also meant we had a greater chance of getting a seat without a wait. So there is our hot tip for you!

Pro Tip: Restaurant reservations open (and fill up) 120 days in advance of Thanksgiving) , so plan ahead or check for cancellations closer to your desired date. They do stay up until the end of January where you’ll have more of a chance at getting a seat at the table!

This addition offers a festive dining experience to complement your holiday bar crawl. 🎄🍴 See how incredible it is in our reel below

  • Hours:
    • Mon – Fri 5:00pm – 9:30pm
    • Sat & Sun 4:00pm – 9:30pm

6. The Tap Yard

We visited Tap Yard for the first time this week and instantly fell for the cozy vibes in their front bar. With leather couches, fun Christmas decorations, and a sparkling tree, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile.

What really sets this holiday pop-up apart is its connection to The Great Raleigh Trolley Holiday Tours—this is where the tours depart. So grab an eggnog while you wait to board, and maybe another when you roll back in full of festive cheer.

Tap Yard itself is such a fun neighborhood watering hole. The huge beer garden and airy back bar reminded us so much of pubs in Australia—we felt right at home. They’re also leaning fully into the season with a lineup of Christmas events, including holiday markets, food drives, and even a holiday bow-tying class.

Boxcar Bar + Arcade in downtown Raleigh transforms into the Boxcar Jingle Bar, a festive holiday takeover featuring dazzling decorations, holiday movies streaming on the TVs, and a special Christmas cocktail menu featuring holiday drinks such as Whiskey Wonderland, Sleigh my Name, and rock’n around the salted rim.

The arcade games remain a central attraction, offering a nostalgic and merry atmosphere for all ages. They have special events through the Christmas pop up bar season including Martinis with Santa, Santa’s HO HO HOs Drag Show, and an ugly sweater night.

9. Tinsel Tavern, Sports & Social, Cary

Another bar that goes all out for the Holiday season is Sports & Social in Fenton, Cary. Each year they bring Tinsel Tavern to the Triangle, which is an immersive holiday experience that’s true to its name, with an explosion of tinsel and twinkling lights decorating the sports bar.

Expect holiday-inspired cocktails and small bites, themed events, and photo ops.

Nutcracker Popup at Clockwork

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a Glenwood South bar going all out with holiday decorations. They’re leaning into the Nutcracker theme with their popup holiday bar. Inside you’ll find Nutcracker soldiers, glowing hearts, ornaments dangling down from the ceiling and festive lights.

I’m feeling like you might want to order their Tiramisu Martini topped with mascarpone whipped cream, ladyfingers and cocoa powder. Or a spiked hot apple cider served in a Nutcracker mug for the perfect festive touch

  • Dates: November 10 – January 31
  • Hours: 5pm – 2am every day
  • Location: 📍519 W North St.

Other bars bringing a cozy Christmas Spirit

The Hibernian

The following bars don’t go overboard with the Christmas decorations, so I wouldn’t really call them a Christmas pop up bar, but they still have a certain kind of cozy holiday spirit worth soaking up this year.

  • William and Co is a neighborhood bar in North Person St with a few Christmas decorations and holiday lights and really great cocktails.
  • The Hibernian brings the vibes with a crackling fire, Christmas lights, moody lighting, and the BEST Irish Coffee in Raleigh, if not the USA. But you have to get Dubliner Keith to make it for you, else it might not hit the highest of heights.
  • In previous years, Hummingbirds in the Iron Works district is said to decorate their porch with a pretty holiday ambiance.
  • Gringo a Go Go last year had some fun Christmas decorations up to pair with your seasonal margaritas and tacos. No word yet about this year.
  • Watts & Ward opposite Moore Square often creates a twinkling beer garden and jazz holiday vibes inside.

Embrace the holiday spirit by exploring these festive pop-ups and bars in Raleigh and the surrounding areas. Whether you’re seeking a tropical twist on Christmas or a traditional holiday ambiance, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this season.
