The LGBTQIA+ Pride Guide to Raleigh: Best Bars, Businesses & Events

All are welcome, y’all. That’s Raleigh’s motto. It doesn’t matter the color of your skin, your sexual preference, or who you vote for; everyone is treated with equal amounts of respect. It’s one of the things we love most about our City of Oaks.

For the LGBTQIA+ community, Raleigh is both progressive and inclusive – for the vast majority. We know and understand it’s not 100% but the majority of Raleigh advocate for full inclusion. Known for its friendly locals, thriving art scene, and entrepreneurial spirit, LGBTQIA+ persons will feel right at home in Raleigh. 

From welcoming gay bars to a supportive network of organizations, to Pride events and LGBTQIA+ owned businesses, this guide to Raleigh’s pride scene caters to all identities and expressions. It’s time to discover a city where you can truly be yourself and be celebrated for it.

LGBTQIA+ Clubs and Community Networks

But first, if you’re new to the city and looking to find your tribe, here are some community clubs and organisations where you can get involved with the LGBTQIA networks here in Raleigh.

LGBT Center of Raleigh

At the heart of Raleigh’s queer community, the LGBT Center of Raleigh is both a gathering place and a lifeline of support. This welcoming hub hosts support groups, social meetups, and programs on advocacy, education, and more. It’s only just recently moved into its new home right next door to the Lincoln Theatre in Downtown Raleigh.

It’s a space for connection, where you can meet other members of the LGBTQIA+ community and take part in events and seek resources. For example, the Center runs a monthly Pride Flow Yoga, mental health support groups and gender discussion groups, a nonbinary monthly teatime meet-up, and an LGBTQIA book group for young people.

They also run free HIV/STI testing on Monday evenings from 5 pm – 7 pm, which is free and confidential. No appointment necessary.

Triangle LGBTQ Group

If you’re looking for a social group, the Triangle LGBTQ Group is a place for couples and singles to find their chosen family. They share social activities, meetups, and outings to bring together people across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum looking to meet other like-minded individuals. 

Whether it’s a relaxed dinner, a movie night, karaoke, coffee dates, or a game night, the focus is on connection and conversation, building lifelong friendships.

If you’re the outdoorsy type, they also host Triangle LGBTQ Active Adventures, where they organize group hikes, skiing, kayaking, and other outdoor adventures.

Raleigh United Mutual Aid Hub (RUMAH)

Another community-led organization that’s rooted in solidarity and activism is the Raleigh United Mutual Aid Hub (RUMAH), a volunteer-led social center that supports LGBTQIA+ folks and allies. 

Some of the initiatives that RUMAH hosts include self-defence training, a seed library and community garden, free access to books, art supplies, etc., and use of their event space. They also host workshops, skill-shares, and other programs where the community can come together and grow as one. 

Triangle Pride Band

Loud and proud, the Triangle Pride Band is a community band where musicians of all sexual orientations can come together once a week and share in uplifting music. 

This all-volunteer, all-ages ensemble celebrates musicians of every skill level and encourages musicians to celebrate identity through performance. They have a jazz band, Chorus, and Symphonic Band, as well as community bands, where you can join other musicians and even take part in Pride events and community concerts. 

PFLAG Triangle

For parents, friends, and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community, support and understanding come from PFLAG Triangle, who work to help families continue in loving relationships through understanding of identity and a sense of belonging. They provide peer-led support groups, education, and advocacy, and create an open space for honest conversation and compassionate learning. 

Triangle Pink Pistols

Many LGBTQIA people still live in fear of attack, and so the Triangle Pink Pistols welcome anyone who wants to learn how to safely use firearms to defend themselves.

The Pink Pistols is an organization that believes every LGBTQIA person has the right to self-defend themselves through the use of firearms. Once a month, they hold a meet-up at a local firing range to practice safe shooting, acquaint people with firearms, and promote the safe and responsible use of firearms for self-defense. You can find out about the next meetup via their private Facebook group.

Stonewall Sports Raleigh

For those who don’t mind a bit of sporty competition on the side of their community, Stonewall Sports Raleigh is where LGBTQIA+ joy thrives on and off the field. Stonewall Sports Raleigh is an inclusive, recreational sports league that welcomes athletes of all identities and skill levels, offering meetups for a variety of sports, from kickball, bowling, pickleball, dodgeball, volleyball, tennis, and much more. Games are friendly, and the vibes are social. And the post-match hangouts are just as important as the score!

Queerolina’s Book Club

Queerolina is another community-run group that brings together the love of literature with LGBTQIA+ culture. Once a month, they host a book club at Little Blue Bakehouse, as well as host writers’ meetups on occasion, too. If you love books and fancy yourself as a novice writer, then this is not just a place to meet like-minded people; it’s where you’ll find your tribe.

Harmony: NC LGBT+ Allied Chamber of Commerce

Now, for where equality meets enterprise, the Harmony NC LGBT+ Allied Chamber of Commerce champions LGBTQIA+ and allied businesses across North Carolina, with a purpose to foster opportunities for the community. 

The chamber holds networking events, professional development seminars, and advocates for entrepreneurs and professionals within the LGBTQIA+ community to thrive while staying true to their values. Whether you’re looking to support LGBTQIA+-owned businesses or grow your own, Harmony is the place to start.

Triangle LGBTQIA Facebook Groups

Gayborhood Raleigh’s Readers’ Board and Triangle LGBTQ are the best Facebook groups for reaching out to the LGBTQIA community in Raleigh. These groups are small in number, but they are highly active and share local events, meet-ups, and simply inspire people to connect with one another.

Best LGBTQIA+ Friendly Bars

Note that most bars in downtown Raleigh are “gay friendly,” further indicating its welcoming nature for the LGBTQ+ community. Here are some that are most well-known.

Legends Nightclub

Raleigh only really has two official gay bars, Legends and Flex. Legends is the cornerstone of LGBTQIA nightlife in Raleigh, having been lighting up the city’s scene for decades. Known for its high-energy drag shows, themed dance nights, and inclusive atmosphere, it’s a place where everyone — from longtime locals to first-time visitors — can let loose and celebrate authentically.

Flex

Flex is another gay bar where you can go for bold nights out fueled by expression. This dynamic LGBTQIA+ venue plays electronic beats, hosts drag performances and themed dance parties and keeps the energy soaring until the early hours. Sleek, vibrant, and unapologetically fun, Flex draws a diverse crowd that celebrates identity in all its forms. Inside Flex, you’ll also find Crewz Leather, specialty LGBTQ+ store.

Libations 317

Libations 317 is a gay bar and social hub that offers craft cocktails, lively music, and a welcoming atmosphere. Find cozy spot to settle in on the comfy lounges, play some board games, and enjoy a meal from their Su-Z’s Asian Kitchen. As well as being a space to be your authentic self, it also regularly hosts Drag lunches and Drag Bingo nights. 

Raleigh Brewing Company

Raleigh Brewing Company is a longtime ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and one of Raleigh’s most inclusive, welcoming gathering spots. Beyond their popular Pride Month celebrations, they consistently show up with LGBTQ+ friendly events throughout the year—think drag shows, karaoke nights, and special Pride-themed beer releases designed to celebrate self-expression and community.

Hell Yes Ma’am Its Pride

Their events go beyond fun (though there’s plenty of that) by also creating space for education, visibility, and support for LGBTQIA+ causes. We’ve personally attended their annual Hell Yes Ma’am, Its Pride celebration, complete with a high-energy drag show, and can confirm it was an absolute blast—joyful, welcoming, and full of love. If you’re looking for a place where everyone is truly invited to show up as they are, Raleigh Brewing Company delivers.

Level7

Level7 is a sophisticated rooftop cocktail bar with views over Midtown Raleigh. Sitting at the top of the AC Hotel in North Hills, Level7 pairs dynamic dining with jaw-dropping views. On top of this, it often hosts Drag Brunches in partnership with the Crape Myrtle Festival.

Le Dive Bar

Another bar that partners with the Crape Myrtle Festival is Le Dive Bar, which hosts regular Drag Trivia Nights. Le Dive Bar has a “come one, come all, come-as-you-are” ethos and makes everyone feel included.

Neptune’s Parlour

Neptune’s Parlour is a moody, subterranean gem in downtown Raleigh that blends great drinks with an ever-rotating lineup of nightly experiences. This Raleigh live music venue and bar is proudly LGBTQIA+-friendly and regularly hosts events that welcome and celebrate the queer community, including gatherings like the Queer & Cheers Holiday Mixer. With its inclusive vibe, energetic crowds, and come-as-you-are spirit, Neptune’s is a favorite spot for connecting, letting loose, and enjoying a night out without pretense.

Bitter Social

New to Downtown Raleigh’s bar scene is Bitter Social, located above Centro (one of the best Mexican restaurants in Raleigh). Bitter Social is very LBGTQ+ friendly, hosting regular events such as a Heated Rivalry binge watch party, GAG Raleigh events, and dance parties. It’s a social place to be for ALL!

Raleigh Beer Garden

Famous for being the Guinness World Record holder for having the most beers on tap, Raleigh Beer Garden is also an LGBTQIA+ friendly bar that has long supported the community. Although not strictly LGBTQIA+, it has Pride deals throughout June, with specialty cocktails that are both bright and refreshing, and it has also hosted Drag brunches on occasion. On any given night, you will find an inclusive vibe here that’s all about getting together and having a good time. I mean, they didn’t build a mini golf course in the beer garden just to look at…

Slims

Although not a gay bar, Slims is a dive bar that has a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere towards the LGBTQIA+ community. This no-frills dive bar is one of Raleigh’s oldest music venues and is where good drinks, good music, and good vibes come together. Known for its laid-back energy, it’s a place to unwind, meet new friends, or just enjoy a night out without pretense. 

Wye Hill Kitchen & Brewing

Not exclusively LGBTQIA+, but an ally through and through, Wye Hill Kitchen and Brewing has been a long supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community and has hosted drag brunches and Pride events. Last year, for Pride Month, they released a themed beer, Luminous Beings, with $1 of every pint served donated to the LGBT Center of Raleigh. Now that’s what I call proud.

Berkeley Cafe

Berkeley Café is one of Raleigh’s oldest dive bars and has always had an inclusive ethos since it began in the 1980s. It reopened in 2024 and has stayed true to its roots. Offering relaxed vibes, live music, and homey bar food, it’s a cozy nook where LGBTQIA+ people can feel accepted and welcome.

Quantum Toad, Selma

Why not hop on the train for a quick 30-minute ride to Selma to experience one of the most delightful cocktail lounges in the region—Quantum Toad, a classy, gay-owned spot full of personality and heart.

Owned by Raleigh couple Rob and Emeric, Quantum Toad is known for its creative, tea-based cocktails, artisanal blends, and Delta-9 offerings. The tea program is especially meaningful, inspired by Emeric’s family legacy at the iconic New York tea company Harney & Sons—a detail that adds both depth and intention to every sip.

The space itself is a showstopper. Rob put his “armchair interior design” skills to work, creating a lounge that oozes character: a reclaimed brick fireplace, exposed brick walls, sliding doors that open to catch the afternoon breeze, and playful, eclectic artwork throughout. The undeniable star of the room is the signature giant toad bursting through the wall, a statement piece created by a local Raleigh artist the owners discovered one night at Lincoln Theatre.

LGBTQIA+ Events

Diva Royale’s Raleigh Drag Queen Show

Step into a world of glamour, glitter, and unapologetically fun drag art at Diva Royale’s Raleigh Drag Queen Show, a drag dinner performance that takes place every weekend. This high-energy performance offers celebrity impersonations, lip-syncing, comedy, and theatrical flair by the city’s star-studded talent. Whether you’re a drag devotee or a first-time audience member, this is where you can get a taste of Raleigh’s vibrant LGBTQIA+ performance scene. This is an 18+ event.

Raleigh Pride

Raleigh Pride is a month-long event that celebrates the city’s LGBTQIA+ visibility through events that spread messages of solidarity, resilience, and joy. Every year in June (Pride Month), the city puts on a host of events that celebrate LGBTQIA+ culture, from live music to drag performances, to fun runs and parades. It’s the most colorful event of the year, and more than a festival, but a statement: a bold, collective affirmation that all are welcome, y’all.

Out! Raleigh Pride

Not to be confused with Raleigh Pride, Out! Raleigh Pride is an annual pride event hosted by the LGBT Center of Raleigh each year in June. For one weekend only, this community-run event is a celebration of LGBTQIA+ culture, creativity, and community. The 2026 theme has yet to be decided on, but you can expect a mix of music, art, performances, games, and a local vendors market, as well as being a welcoming space for expression, connection, and celebration. 2026 is the 14th year of this pride celebration in the City of Oaks and promises to be a weekend full of the spirit of a city proud to honor every identity. It’s free to attend.

OUTSOUTH: Queer Film Festival

Not actually in Raleigh, but in nearby Durham (just a 30-minute drive away), OUTSOUTH (formerly the North Carolina Gay + Lesbian Film Festival) is the second largest LGBTQ+ film festival in the Southeast, and shines the spotlight on queer storytelling through cinema from around the globe. From thought-provoking dramas and documentaries to vibrant shorts and comedies, the festival celebrates LGBTQIA+ film talent from the established to the emerging.

Apex Pride Festival

Every year, the Town of Apex celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and their loved ones with music, food, games, vendors, and activities! The day of inclusion typically features Live music and entertainment, a Kids Zone with inflatables and games, a Food truck rodeo and local vendors!

The Crape Myrtle Festival

Raleigh’s Crape Myrtle Festival is a community-led charity that holds regular events to raise money and awareness for those living with HIV. While not a singular festival, but several events across the year, each event embraces inclusivity and community, featuring drag brunches and trivia nights that welcome all identities. 

She/They/Gay Show

ComedyWorx on Hillsborough St in Downtown Raleigh is Raleigh’s longest running improv show. They host the monthly She/They/Gay Show. Their talented femme, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ troupe members spin stories a into comedic gold, creating unpredictable and hilarious scenes that explore identity, life, and the beauty of queer experiences.

Gag Raleigh

GAG! is an LGBTQ+ event series based in Raleigh and Durham. They host events in various gay friendly bars in Raleigh such as dance parties, film screenings, and drag shows at the Ritz Raleigh.

LGBTQIA+-Owned & Friendly Businesses

Raleigh has a lot of LGBTQIA+ friendly businesses, and it would be impossible to name them all, but here are some that we are aware of. If you know any more that we’ve missed, let us know in the comments.

Blackbird Books & Coffee

Blackbird Books & Coffee is an LGBTQIA-friendly haven for book lovers, coffee aficionados, and anyone wanting to feel seen and accepted. This indie bookstore has been openly supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community and has a curated collection of queer literature to choose from, as well as hosting a Queer Book Club once a month. Enjoy locally roasted coffee in a space that’s both cozy and celebrates creativity, inclusivity, and connection.

Urban Pothos Houseplant Shop

Urban Pothos is a Latinx- and LGBT-owned houseplant shop in the Iron Works District of Raleigh. As a queer and minority-owned business, they believe in the power of community and inclusivity and helping people of all backgrounds become the best plant parents they can be. They sell a wide variety of indoor houseplants, unique and rare varieties, houseplants accessories, and offer workshop and classes.

CrossFit SERVE + Wellness

For crossfitters and fitness freaks, there is a welcoming LGBTQIA+ community at CrossFit SERVE + Wellness in Raleigh, which has an inclusive space for athletes of all levels to train. Whether you want to join classes, look for personalized wellness programs, or simply hit the gym, CrossFit SERVE is not just a place for a workout; it’s a place to connect, challenge yourself, and celebrate everybody. 

The Fiction Kitchen

The Fiction Kitchen is a plant-powered restaurant owned by married LGBTQIA co-owners Chef Caroline Morrison and GM Siobhan Southern, who bring inventive Southern vegan cuisine to the community in a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. For LGBTQIA+ diners and allies alike, The Fiction Kitchen is the place to enjoy a good meal in good company. Head on over on Sundays for rainbow-colored mimosas!

The Hightide Salon + Suites

When it comes to getting your hair and nails done, The Hightide Salon + Suites is Raleigh’s stylish and inclusive beauty salon who have been outspoken about its support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Whether you’re looking for a haircut with precision or a facial before a hot date, this salon caters to all identities to refresh, reinvent, and celebrate their personal style.

Limatus Bespoke

Proudly LGBTQIA+ owned and operated, Limatus Bespoke in City Market is where to go for tailored style with a modern twist. Specializing in custom clothing and personalized fittings, whether you want a full suit or just a blazer, this is the place to go for confidence and flair. 

Purr Cup Cafe

Raleigh’s cat cafe, Purr Cup Café, is part coffeehouse and part animal sanctuary, where you can sip locally roasted brews surrounded by adorable and adoptable cats in a relaxed, inclusive environment. It’s a queer-owned business that employs queer-staff, and has tons of cute queer merch you can buy as well. They often have deals around Pride month or offer a portion of their profits to LGBTQIA+ charities. Purr Cup Café is the place to unwind and socialize whilst making new friends… and furry friends.

AC Restaurants: Poole’s Diner & Death & Taxes

Led by celebrated LGBTQIA+ chef and restaurateur Ashley Christensen, AC Restaurants has helped shape Raleigh’s modern food scene while creating spaces rooted in inclusion, creativity, and Southern pride. Ashley is a James Beard Award–winning chef (including Outstanding Chef) and a nationally respected voice in hospitality—and her values show up both on and off the plate.

Poole’s Diner serves a modern, elevated take on familiar Southern comfort food, crafted with locally sourced ingredients and deep care for community. One of its most iconic features isn’t even on the menu—the mural on the side of the building that reads “Everyone is welcome in Raleigh”, with Raleigh painted in rainbow colors. It’s a bold, public declaration of belonging and a meaningful symbol for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Death & Taxes, located in downtown Raleigh, offers a more refined yet still soulful dining experience, centered around wood-fired cooking and seasonal Southern ingredients. The restaurant earned national acclaim as a 2016 James Beard Award finalist for Best New Restaurant and was named one of Food & Wine’s Best New Restaurants of the Year. While the vibe is intimate and polished, the ethos remains the same—intentional, inclusive, and deeply rooted in craft.

Current Wellness

Current Wellness is a deeply LGBTQIA+-affirming wellness center in downtown Raleigh, created to support both physical and mental health in a genuinely inclusive, welcoming environment. The space is thoughtfully designed to care for the whole person and includes a movement studio for yoga and fitness classes, a teaching kitchen, and coworking offices for counseling and wellness practitioners.

Current Wellness regularly hosts LGBTQIA+-specific classes and community gatherings, including Pride Strength and Pride Yoga—queer and trans–affirming affinity classes designed to help participants move, breathe, and build strength in spaces where they feel seen and safe. They also host a relaxed and welcoming LGBTQIA+ Fitness Social Hour, offering a low-pressure way to connect, move, and build community. Last year they hosted a special Pride month yoga class in Moore Square

House of Swank is an iconic Raleigh NC themed T-shirt designer and printer. Started in 2011 by husband-and-wife team John Pugh Jessica Robinson, they are big supporters of inclusivity, support the work of the LGBTQ Center of Raleigh and other local charities and events. They now only operate online or pop-up stores at various Raleigh events and markets. WE have several of their shirts and I love my Raleigh rainbow shirt – great for allies!
