In a city where both humans and canines are equally catered for, finding the perfect place to stay with your furry friend has never been easier, as there are many pet-friendly hotels in Raleigh.

The problem comes when you need to narrow down your options and pick one to stay in. That’s where we come in – we’ve stayed in many of Raleigh’s hotels and have curated our list of personal favorites so you don’t end up barking up the wrong tree when making a decision.

Hyatt House, Downtown/Seaboard Station Raleigh

• Address: 11 Seaboard Ave, Raleigh
• Nearest Dog Park: Oakwood Dog Park, 910 Brookside Drive (20-minute walk)
• Pet policy: $100 per accommodation per stay (1-6 nights) and $200 per accommodation per stay (7-30 nights), maximum of two pets up to 23 kg each. Specific rooms only.

Located near the vibrant downtown area in Seaboard Station, Hyatt House is a reasonably new hotel that only opened in October 2024 and offers apartment-style living – perfect for those traveling with pets. The atmosphere is welcoming and modern, with a warm, contemporary décor that feels both sophisticated and homey. Each room comes with a kitchen area, a seating area, and a desk and workspace. 

Although a bit of a walk from the dog park, the Hyatt House is in a great location within walking distance to historic Oakwood and Mordecai, where you’ll find boutique shops and cozy coffee shops on North Person St. The hotel offers free breakfast to all guests, a well-equipped fitness center, an outdoor pool, and a rooftop bar, High Rail, which has great craft cocktails in a laid-back setting, overlooking the high-rises of downtown.

Hyatt House has several locations in Raleigh, but since you’re visiting with your pet, I recommend their downtown location as it’s closer to Dorothea Dix Park and many other pet-friendly hangouts. However, if you do need to be closer to Midtown, they have a location in North Hills as well, and another location near RDU Airport/Brier Creek, and all of them welcome pets for the same fees. Homewood Suites by Hilton Raleigh Downtown

• Nearest Dog Park: Dorothea Dix Dog Park (25-minute walk)
• Pet policy: $75 per accommodation per stay, maximum of two pets up to 34 kg each. Cats and dogs allowed. Service animals are exempt from fees.

Another new-ish addition to Raleigh is Homewood Suites by Hilton, which opened its doors in November 2024. It has lovely, stylish apartment-style rooms in an ideal location in downtown, close to Dorothea Dix Park. Being new on the block, you can expect unique design touches, such as elevators with tablets on the wall, and the décor in the lobby makes a strong first impression.

This is an all‑suite property, so all rooms come with a kitchen/kitchenette, making it a good option for longer stays, and there’s also a 24/7 gym, and the Moonsong Bar + Café in the lobby offers a daily complimentary buffet breakfast. They also have Bluestone Lane Coffee, one of our favorite Aussie cafes in NYC. You’ll also love the Urban Oak rooftop bar – the highest in the city with great views.

As expected, there is a fee for pets, but it’s priced per stay, so it can work out to be reasonably priced if you stay more than one night. Their hotel in Cary is also pet-friendly and has the same pet policy. See prices and availability here.

Residence Inn by Marriott Raleigh Downtown

• Address: 616 S Salisbury St, Raleigh
• Nearest Dog Park: Dorothea Dix Dog Park (25-minute walk)
• Pet policy: $150 per pet per stay, dogs only, up to 50 kg each per pet. Service animals are exempt from fees.

Residence Inn Raleigh Downtown is an all‑suite, LEED Silver certified hotel with spacious, clean, and thoughtfully laid out rooms, some with full kitchens or kitchenettes and workspaces. The décor is modern and stylish, and it also offers a complimentary full breakfast, free WiFi, and a well‑equipped fitness centre.

It does have the highest pet fee on this list, but it’s also the only hotel with a weight limit of 50kg, whereas most stop around 34 kg, or even less, so if you have a large dog breed like a Mastiff or Wolfhound, consider it as an option for staying in downtown Raleigh.

Hampton Inn & Suites, Raleigh Downtown

• Address: 600 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh
• Nearest Dog Park: Oakwood Dog Park (35-minute walk)
• Pet policy: $75 per accommodation per stay, maximum of two pets, cats and dogs only, no weight limit.

This is a very central location in downtown, being located in the entertainment district of Glenwood South (expect more nighttime noise); it’s just a short walk from local attractions like the Museum of Natural Sciences and the vibrant Warehouse District. The hotel has a sleek, contemporary design and offers both hotel rooms and suites, each with practical amenities like mini-fridges and microwaves. 

It offers free breakfast, a well-equipped fitness center, an indoor pool, and, for pet owners, you can take your pet for a bit of outside space on the patio terrace. The pet fee is also reasonable at $75 per stay, AND there’s no weight limit, so bring your Great Danes!

The Casso, Raleigh, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

• Address: 603 W Morgan St, Raleigh
• Nearest Dog Park: Dorothea Dix Dog Park (30-minute walk)
• Pet policy: $100 per accommodation per stay, dogs only, maximum of two pets up to 11 kg each. 

The Casso is ideally located near Hillsborough Street, Fayetteville Street, and Dorothea Dix Park. It’s one of the most pet-friendly hotels and even offers food and water bowls to pets.

It is a dog-only hotel and has a weight limit of only 11 kg, so if you have a dog larger than a Chihuahua, this isn’t the hotel for you. However, tiny dog owners can enjoy sleek and stylish rooms with colorful accents, access to a 24/7 gym, and a yoga studio.

The Good Day Good Night Bar is one of our favorite cocktail bars in Raleigh and would make for the perfect setting for a nightcap after the pup has gone to bed. WE have a full review of the Casso Hotel – we love its Raleigh personality. See prices and availability here.

Aloft Raleigh

• Address: 2100 Hillsborough St, Raleigh
• Nearest Dog Park: Dorothea Dix Dog Park (45-minute walk)
• Pet policy: $75 per accommodation per stay, maximum of two dogs, up to 18 kg each. 

If you’re visiting Raleigh for NC State University, the Aloft Hotel is one of the best located hotels and offers rooms and suites with views of the campus. As well as being pet-friendly, it also has a fitness center, a grab-and-go snack bar, a Mexican restaurant, Lobera Tacos and Tequila, and a cocktail bar, W XYZ Bar.

The only downside is that the weight limit for dogs is only 18 kg, so it would only be appropriate for medium-sized to small-sized dogs. Aloft also has a location near RDU that’s pet friendly. See prices and availability here.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel Raleigh Southwest by IHG

• Address: 3741 Thistledown Dr, Raleigh
• Nearest Dog Park: Carolina Pines Dog Park or Dorothea Dix Park, both a 50+ minute walk
• Pet policy: $30 per pet, per night, maximum of two dogs only. Up to 34 kg each. 

If you are only visiting for one night, then the Holiday Inn Express may be your cheapest option as a place to stay with pets, as they have a pet fee of just $30. This is a per-night fee, though, so if you are staying more than two nights, then the other options on this list that have a per-stay fee may be a cheaper deal.

Although it’s quite a long walk from the nearest dog park, don’t fret, as the Walnut Creek Trail, which connects to both Lake Johnson and Lake Raleigh, is accessible by walking 20 minutes up the road. Dogs need to be kept on a leash, but it’s a lovely natural setting to walk around with your pups.

This is a 3-star hotel with no frills and no bad points either. It has a fitness center, indoor pool, and outdoor area with barbecue facilities. It does boast free on-site private parking, which is always a bonus. See prices and availability here.

La Quinta by Wyndham Raleigh Downtown North

• Address: 2610 Westinghouse Blvd, Raleigh
• Nearest Dog Park: Oakwood Dog Park (50-minute walk), although there’s a greenway trail nearby
• Pet policy: $25 per accommodation per night, maximum of two pets up to 34 kg each. Cats and dogs are allowed.

Another affordable option for pet owners is La Quinta, which has the lowest pet fee in Raleigh at just $25 per night. What’s more is that they also allow cats. The location is a bit out of the way, north of downtown, but not quite in the vibrant North Hills area, but with that location comes an affordable price tag.

It has a simple, comfortable design and is laid-back atmosphere, clean, and well-maintained. It offers basic amenities like flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and microwaves, and guests also have a complimentary breakfast included. See prices and availability here.

The Westin Raleigh-Durham Airport

• Address: 3931 Macaw St, Raleigh
• Nearest Dog Park: none nearby
• Pet policy: $50 per accommodation per night, maximum of two pets up to 23 kg each. Specific rooms only.

If you need to stay further out by the airport, then The Westin is a solid choice. It has a refined and tranquil decor and quiet ambiance, making it ideal for a pre- or post-flight stay. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, featuring a large workspace and thoughtful touches like minibars and coffee makers. I really like the terraced swimming pool here.

While the location is ideal for those catching a flight, it’s a bit removed from downtown Raleigh, and there’s not much happening in the area – however, William B. Umstead State Park is a 6-minute drive away, and though dogs have to be kept on a leash, it’s a lovely place to go for a walk beneath the canopies of oaks and pines. Embassy Suites by Hilton Raleigh Durham Airport Brier Creek

• Address: 8001 Arco Corporate Dr, Raleigh
• Nearest Dog Park: none nearby
• Pet policy: $75 per accommodation per stay, maximum of two pets, and allows cats and dogs. No maximum weight.

Another option for if you need to stay near the airport, but for a better deal if you stay more than a night, or if you have a large pet – it’s the Embassy Suites. It doesn’t have a weight limit on pets, and the pet fee is priced per stay, so this hotel is a top choice for those with large dogs who are transiting through Raleigh.

It has all-suite rooms, which are well-appointed with separate living areas and cozy bedrooms, making it feel more like a home than a hotel room.  It also boasts a complimentary made-to-order breakfast, a nightly evening reception with drinks and snacks, an indoor pool, a fitness center, and free airport shuttle service.

Like the aforementioned The Westin, it’s close to the airport, so it doesn’t have dog parks nearby, but a short drive over to Umstead State Park will get you and your pooch out in nature in no time. See prices and availability here.
