Stanley Cup Parade for Carolina Hurricanes (Raleigh 2026)

Raleigh, your hometown Carolina Hurricanes are the 2026 Stanley Cup Champions and to commemorate the achievement, there is a championship parade and rally in the streets of downtown Raleigh, hosted by the NHL and the Hurricanes. The Stanley Cup is coming back to Raleigh for the first time since 2006, and it’s time to celebrate! 

Date & Time of Stanley Cup Parade

• Date: Saturday, June 20th 
• Time: 11am parade start
• Location: Downtown Raleigh (parade details down below)
• Dress: Hurricanes gear (or red clothes)
• Cost: Free to attend
• Bring: Patience (more tips down below)

Route of the parade:

• Starts at the intersection of Hillsborough Sreet and St. Mary’s Street.
• Proceeds east down Hillsborough toward NC State Capitol
• Turns right on Salisbury St, then left on Morgan St
• Right onto Fayetteville St, and heads south
• Ends at Davie St
• Then the players will hop off and walk to City Plaza for a rally on a stage where fans can gather to hear from players, coaches, and special guests. The entire street will be closed to accommodate the expected huge crowd. 
• Length of parade route is approximately 1.2 miles 

Know Before You Go

• Street Closures: Expect closures along the parade route, similar to the Christmas parade. Crews will begin closing roads early Saturday morning between 3:30am-5:30am and continue through Saturday afternoon, and the adjacent streets such as Hargett, Martin, and Davie.
• Parking Decks: 5 Parking decks will offer free parking for the celebration:
  • Moore Square Deck: 233 S. Wilmington St. 
  • City Center Deck: 429 S. Wilmington St. 
  • City Hall Parking Deck: 201 W. Morgan St. 
  • Wilmington St. Station Deck: 117 S. Wilmington St. 
  • Cabarrus St. 436 S. Salisbury St. 
  • Additionally, the Performing Arts Center and Convention Center Decks will cost $10: See parking website.
• Street Parking: FREE on weekends. Signage is prevalent. Pay Stations and the Passport Parking app refuse to let you pay if you try during free parking hours. See our guide to parking in Raleigh
• Transit: To avoid traffic and parking, consider the GoRaleigh bus for getting into downtown.

• Coming from Durham? Take the 700 from Durham Station to the Regional Transit Center, and transfer to the 100.
• Coming from Chapel Hill? Take the 800 from Chapel HIll to the Regional Transit Center, and transfer to the 100. 
• Train from Cary: there is an Amtrak train departing from Cary Station at 9:47am that gets to Raleigh Union Station at 10:05am. Website link.
• Weather Forecast: The forecast for Saturday is currently a high of 92F. It will be hot. We love our Hurricanes jerseys, but plan accordingly to hydrate (consider a Canes t-shirt).

Neighborhood Parking

Since Raleigh is quite a walkable city, if you are able, consider parking in one of the neighborhoods on the outskirts of the parade route and walking in. Shhh, we didn’t tell you all this, lol. Note: pay attention to residential parking zones and permits. 

• Boylan Heights neighborhood. 10 minute walk to Hillsborough St,  or 18 minute walk to City Plaza.
• Warehouse District: in the heart of downtown, will fill up quickly
• Glenwood South – 5 to 10 minute walk to Hillsborough St
• Historic Oakwood/Nth Person St area – 5 min walk to State Capitol (mid-point of parade route
• Forest Park neighborhood. 15 minute walk to the starting point of the parade. 
• Village District: 25 minute walk to start of the parade on Hillsborough St.

PRO TIPS:

• Arrive early. The best views are reserved for those who get there really early. Many people will start coming in and getting a spot around 7am. I’ve seen comments from people who are driving in from all over North Carolina, and from neighboring states. 
• Should you be at the start, in the middle, at the end? Great question, hard to answer. Depends if you want to attend the rally, or just watch the parade. As it’s spread out over a mile, you should be able to find somewhere to settle in with good views.
• From the start at St. Mary’s Street, it is a 25 minute walk to the rally in City Plaza. 
• From the ½ way point at the State Capitol, it is a 10 minute walk to the rally in City Plaza. 
• Bring fluids to hydrate, it’s going to be HOT and sunny!
• Yes, I expect the rally in City Plaza to be packed and noisy. Know your limits!

What if I need the restroom during the parade?

I don’t know if there will be porta-potties spaced around for the parade, but there are many nearby businesses that should be open on a Saturday morning that will have restrooms available. Purchase a cup of coffee or pastry to share your support and gratitude. During the Christmas parade, we positioned ourselves near one of the hotels and ducked into their lobby (shhh). See our hotel’s info down below! 

What can I bring to the parade?

I haven’t seen an official event list of what you can and cannot bring, but treat this like any other large festival or event like the Christmas parade, except it is SUMMER! 

• Chairs or blankets to sit on. Be considerate of others and the space near you.
• Photography gear: Cameras or phones for capturing the parade and rally.
• Sun protection: Hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen — expect hot, humid weather.
• Light layers: We love our Hurricanes jerseys, but we won’t be sitting in an air-conditioned Lenovo Center, consider a Canes t-shirt instead. Plus hats, flags, or other team merchandise to show your support.
• Water bottle: Stay hydrated, especially with the heat and potential for long lines.
• Comfortable walking shoes: you may want to move around the downtown area afterward, and you may have a decent walk from your parking spot.
• Patience, good spirits, and loud voices to yell out GO CANES!

Will there be food and drink available?

I don’t know if there will be food trucks or vendors along the parade route. However, many of the local restaurants and stores will be open. Bring patience: the lines for our local coffee shops might be wrapped around the block! Here is a list of our favorite downtown Raleigh restaurants.

Hotels near the Stanley Cup Parade

If you are coming to Raleigh from out of town the day before the parade or need to stay the night after the parade, accommodation could book up quickly for this popular event. Downtown Raleigh will be the best place to stay with easy walking distance to the parade. Here are our favorite hotels in downtown Raleigh:
