Good Graces (North Hills)

New to North Hills this year, is Good Grace, the first full-service restaurant in the Innovation District. It’s the kind of place that works for every mood — coffee and breakfast meetings by morning, cocktails and dinner by night, and a grab-and-go market when you’re just passing through.
However, Good Graces has quickly become known for its chicken salad sandwich. Our waiter raved about it – and said her mum travels to eat here just for it, so Craig ordered and found her recommendation to be factual (and placed it in our best sandwiches in Raleigh list). One Raleigh local in our community called it “the best chicken salad sandwich I’ve had in 70 years!”
Their chicken salad sandwich comes with pickled red onion, tomato, butter, and lettuce on sourdough bread. And to uplevel the experie3nce choose a side of fries – they were the most perfectly seasoned fries I’ve had, landing it in our best fries in Raleigh list

It’s topped with onions, sprouts, cucumbers, Swiss cheese, and mayo served on your choice of toasted whole wheat, rye, white, or pumpernickel bread. They’ve put a twist on that with their Rob’s Barnyard Strut, mixing it with pecan pieces and apple chunks and topping it with sprots and lettuce on a warmed sesame bun!

Sweet or Savory? The Great Debate
When it comes to chicken salad, Raleigh locals are divided — but in the best way.
- Sweet Style: Eastern NC natives swear by sweet relish and no onion.
- Savory Style: Others go for celery, dill, and a little mustard kick.
- Fancy Upgrades: Grapes, pecans, and almonds are all fair game.
As one local put it:
“I believe wholeheartedly that chicken salad should have sweet relish in it!”
